Construction for Cascades of Frederick, one of the largest senior affordable housing complexes in Frederick, MD, is expected to begin this month.
Developed by Community Housing Initiative (CHI), the $42 million project will bring 151 units of much needed affordable housing options to the area’s residents, aged 62 and older. Designed by RBA Architects, the 144,144 square foot, four-story apartment complex will offer one- and two-bedroom units. Other community amenities will include an exercise room, a community clubhouse, and sales/management offices. 100 percent of the building will serve residents aged 62 and older, earning 60 percent or less of the Area Median Income (AMI).
The project was developed in conjunction with Frederick County Department of Housing and Community Development and the City of Frederick Department of Housing and Human Services (HHS). It is expected to finish in the fall of 2023, with a move-in date of November 2023.
