On July 12th, Morgan-Keller proudly celebrated the grand opening of the Rappahannock Food Pantry at Rush River Commons with a ribbon-cutting ceremony!
The new facility is located in Washington, VA, on the corner of Warren Avenue and Leggett Lane across from the Town of Washington post office. After the pantry was unable to renew its lease at the previous Sperryville location, the "One Rappahannock" capital campaign was launched to garner community support.
The old building needed repairs, had limited storage, and required volunteers to transport inventory from an outside storage area each morning. With an additional 2,500 square feet, the new facility now offers expanded storage, meeting spaces, and ample parking with easy access for food deliveries.
The food pantry will be part of a new community space surrounding restored wetlands and fostering Rappahannock-grown programs and services. When completed, Rush River Commons will also include an office building and 5 residential buildings with 18 affordable housing units.
Morgan-Keller loves contributing to projects with a significant community impact. We look forward to achieving shared success in the future!
