The first multi-family project in Urbana, Maryland is beginning to take shape.
Construction crews with Morgan-Keller are feverishly working on the Urban Green Apartment Community — a 352-unit development with a combination of mixed-use residential units and retail space.
Matan Companies, one of the region’s premier commercial real estate and development firms, is developing the luxury apartment project, and has teamed up with Gables Residential to manage the community.
Last week representatives from Matan, Gables, Morgan Keller, and Wells Fargo Bank met to celebrate the project’s progress.
Plans call for Urban Green to include eight buildings to rise on approximately 23 acres at the corner of Fingerboard Road and Urbana Pike.
Five elevator buildings will be built on a podium slab with four floors of residential units above a structured parking garage. Three garden-style apartment buildings will be nestled along the forest conservation area and natural pond setting. 12,000 square feet of ground level retail will be located in one of the five podium buildings.
Officials plan to open the clubhouse and start pre-leasing many of the units by March 2016, with the first 48 units set to be delivered by May 2016. The remaining 304 units will be delivered in phases, with the project completing delivery by the spring of 2017.
Urban Green will offer its residents a comprehensive collection of luxury amenities and services, including a resort-style pool with sundeck, outdoor grilling station, and stunning clubhouse. The facility will also be equipped with an on-site fitness center, dog park, pet spa, and community garden, all within walking distance to an assortment of stores and restaurants.
“We are excited to offer a true high-end mixed-use community, located in an already fantastic, established area,” said Karl Morris, Director of Development for the Matan Companies. “Urban Green will offer the best of both worlds, incorporating features of urban living while maintaining the serenity and ease of its suburban location.”
