About this Project

The Carroll Creek promenade in the center of the city of Frederick, Maryland has quickly become a major attraction for both residents and visitors to the city.

Major elements of this project included:

  • Three distinctive pedestrian bridges:
    • A cabled suspension bridge with a 30 foot tall central mast
    • An arched bridge clad in natural stone
    • A traditional footbridge with ornate iron sculpture
  • A public amphitheater
  • Raised planters with elaborate brick detailing
  • Extensive landscaping
  • Numerous water features including several waterfalls
  • An attractive blend of patterned brick walkways stretching approximately two miles along the promenade.

  • Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Excellence in Construction Award - Cumberland Valley Chapter
  • American Concrete Institute Excellence in Concrete Award - First Place - Maryland Chapter
  • American Planning Association Outstanding Planning Project - Maryland Chapter
