About this Project
Construction of a four-story addition to the existing campus library providing additional space for the library and the new Robert C. Byrd Legislative Center.
The Library addition and Byrd Center were constructed as an entirely separate building, maintaining a fire separation while simultaneously joining with the existing building through the use of fire shutters, sprinklers, and a structurally independent party wall.
The building addition provided a separate identity for the Byrd Legislative Center, as well as a second entrance to the Scarborough Library. Exterior construction was structural concrete and masonry and interior construction consisted of drywall, VWC, and wood trim.
